Following two mass shootings, tens of thousands of people have gathered throughout the United States to demand stricter gun legislation.

Participants in the hundreds of marches chanted chants such as “I want freedom from being shot.” The rallies were backed by US President Joe Biden, who called on Congress to “pass common sense gun safety legislation.” Despite this, Republicans are certain to resist any attempt to modify the statute.

The shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas on May 24 killed 19 students and two adults. That assault, as well as a similar one a few days earlier in Buffalo, New York, in which ten people were killed, has reignited calls for increased gun regulation in the United States. March For Our Lives, a gun-control organization created by survivors of the Parkland school shooting in Florida in 2018, said on Saturday that 450 events would be organized around the country.

US: Rally for stricter Gun Laws

March For Our Lives, a gun-control organization created by survivors of the Parkland, Florida, school shooting in 2018, said on Saturday that 450 demonstrations would be conducted around the country, including in Washington, DC, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

The organization stated that politicians will not be allowed to “sit back” as people continue to die. Political leaders’ inactivity, according to March For Our Lives (MFOL), is murdering Americans.

In a statement, MFOL board member Trevon Bosley declared, “We will no longer allow you to sit back while people continue to die.” One of the Parkland shooting survivors, David Hogg, told demonstrators in Washington, DC, that the killings of children in Uvalde “should fill us with wrath and demands for change, not endless debate.”
