Russian forces have launched a major military assault on Ukraine

Ukraine: Russia’s President Vladimir Putin ordered a “military operation” in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region in a televised address early Friday, but what has been launched goes far beyond that and amounts to a full-scale attack on the country.

Russian military vehicles are said to have crossed the border in a number of locations, including Belarus, in the north, south, and east. According to police, at least seven people have been killed in Russian attacks.

Another 19 people have gone missing. Within the last hour, multiple explosions have been heard in Odesa.

According to the Ukrainian president’s office, more than 40 Ukrainian troops have been killed as a result of Russian shelling, but this has not been independently confirmed.

Russian military vehicles are reportedly moving across the border from Crimea, according to CCTV images released by Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service.Explosions have been heard in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, and Kramatorsk, in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, according to BBC correspondents.

Ukraine’s armed forces claim to have shot down five Russian planes and a helicopter, but Russia denies this.In Kyiv, emergency sirens have sounded, and massive traffic jams have formed as residents flee the city.

If anyone tries to take on Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that Moscow will respond “immediately.” According to the European Union, this is one of Europe’s darkest hours since World War II, and Russia will face “massive sanctions.”

Ukraine has urged the United Nations to “do everything possible” to prevent a full-scale war. President of the United States, Joe Biden, has promised that the world will hold Russia accountable, predicting a large loss of life.
