Real Madrid won El Clasico 3-1 on Sunday, moving three points ahead of Barcelona in the La Liga standings. Despite Jules Kounde’s return, Real Madrid’s stars were the difference as Barcelona paid for their defensive missteps.
Early and frequently, Sergio Roberto came under attack, and the Barcelona right-back allowed Vinicius Junior too much room to begin the game, which resulted in the opening goal 12 minutes in. The Brazilian was passed through and while Marc-Andre ter Stegen was there to stop it, he parried it right into the path of Karim Benzema, who would score the opening goal on the rebound.

After a spectacular shot from outside the box, Federico Valverde would double the lead before the half. Eric Garcia’s error allowed four Real Madrid attackers to pass and set up the goal that Valverde confidently scored, giving Los Blancos the opportunity to score.
With the exception of Robert Lewandowski’s missed opportunity at point-blank range on a sliding effort in the first half, Barcelona never really challenged Real Madrid until the very end.
Ferran Torres scored a consolation goal for Barca before Ansu Fati came close to tying the score. However, the score was closer than the actual game. To finish the score, Rodrygo converted a penalty kick.
Real maintains their unbeaten record as Barca suffers their first league loss of the year thanks to the victory.
