Just over a month after being freed from jail on gun charges, rapper JayDaYoungan passed away on Wednesday night after being shot outside of his Louisiana home.

According to authorities, the musician, whose real name is Javorius Scott, and a male cousin named Kenyatta Scott Sr. were both shot outside the residence in Bogalusa. The rapper was shot shortly before six o’clock and was taken in critical condition to a local hospital. He had lost a significant amount of blood, according to sources, and was taken right away to surgery.
Just before midnight, police announced that JayDaYoungan had passed away. Scott Sr., who some accounts claim to be the rapper’s father, was said to be doing well. A half-hour or so after the gunfire that injured JayDaYoungan, according to the police, there was another shooting in the area. Officials stated that there was a chance the shootings were connected.
Police said that the 24-year-old rapper’s passing brought attention to the city’s chronic violent problems. When a second incident happened, Bogalusa Police Chief Kendall Bullen was still on the site of the JayDaYoungan shooting.
Bullen said to WWL, “It’s sad.” Bogalusa, I’m sorry. It is a tiny community.
According to Bullen, “it sometimes seems like a lot of our shootings and other incidents among the young population are on opposing sides of the rappers they support and follow.”
2017 saw the signing of JayDaYoungan to Atlantic Records. He had collaborated with rappers such as Lato, Moneybagg Yo, Boosie Badazz, and Lil Durk. Police apprehended him in October 2021 when he was carrying a 9mm pistol that was unlawful for him to possess because of Texas indictments he was under for allegedly assaulting a pregnant lady and illegally possessing oxycodone.
