Pokemon Unite is a new MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game that will be released for the Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS platforms. It will be the first game of its kind set in the Pokemon world.
Pokemon Unite was first revealed in June of last year, and a release date has now been set. This month, the game will be released on Nintendo Switch, followed by Android and iOS in September. A brief trailer showcasing gameplay was also released on the game’s official YouTube account.
Pokemon Unite will feature 5-on-5 team battles in an arena, similar to what MOBA players are used to. A normal battle is catching wild Pokemon, leveling up and evolving your Pokemon, and defeating an opponent who is also attempting to do so. In order to win, you must score more points than the opposing team within the time limit. The trailer features gameplay in both the lane and the jungle, as well as some unique Pokemon skills.
It currently has a roster of 19 Pokemon, with more likely to be added in the future. Over 15 different sorts of Held items will be available to increase a Pokémon’s stats. Players or trainers can also employ a variety of combat equipment to aid their Pokemon. Defeating wild Pokemon provides Aeos with energy, which he must gather and deposit in the opponents’ goal zones. At the end of the game, the team with the most deposited points wins.
The Pokemon Company and Tencent Games’ TiMi Studios are working on the game. It will be released for Nintendo Switch next month, however no specific date has been set. Beginning in September, Android and iOS users will be able to try it out. Pokemon Unite will be playable on both the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. Later, it will add support for French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
According to The Verge, Pokemon Unite will also enable cross-progression, which means players will be able to use their Pokemon Trainer Club account or Nintendo Account on other platforms and keep their progress.
