OSCE meeting scheduled for monday was cancelled by russia
OSCE: It has been announced that the Russian and Ukrainian delegations to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) will meet in Vienna on Tuesday to discuss Moscow’s troop buildup near the Ukrainian border. After Russia failed to respond to a formal request for information about its military build-up on Sunday, Ukraine and several other Baltic states called for the summit to discuss “unusual military activity” in Belarus.

The OSCE’s 57 members are required by the Vienna Document of 1990 to share information about their military forces and to notify one another ahead of any major activities or training exercises.
The announcement comes after a senior Russian official told Russia’s RIA news agency on Monday morning that Moscow had turned down a request to attend a meeting called for by Ukraine. The head of Russia’s mission to the organization, Konstantin Gavrilov, had previously stated that Moscow’s diplomats would not attend the meeting scheduled for Monday afternoon.
On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, did not directly respond to the request, but told reporters, “I would like to emphasize once again that we are talking about the movement of Russian troops on Russian territory.”
Today, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz meets with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv to continue diplomatic efforts. He’ll travel to Moscow tomorrow to meet with President Putin.
The UK government stated this morning that it has seen no signs that Russia is backing down from its threat to invade Ukraine. The situation, according to Boris Johnson, is “extremely concerning.” He has canceled plans to travel around the UK overnight; instead, he will return to London later and receive intelligence briefings on the current situation.
At the moment, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss is hosting a meeting of the Cobra committee. The committee meets to discuss major events and emergencies. The government in this country has stated that it will continue to pursue any and all options to persuade Russia not to invade. However, the outlook in London appears to be bleak at the moment.
