Mimi will be released in July, and Kriti Sanon has shared the first look poster.
Last year, before the lockdown, Kriti Sanon finished her next project, Mimi. In the upcoming film, the actress will take on the character of a surrogate mother. Sanon has released the first look poster today, after revealing the first look earlier this week.
The actress confirmed the July 2021 release date, writing, “This July, expect the extraordinary from the ordinary! ✨ Stay tuned.”
Mimi is based on the Marathi film Mala Aai Vhaaychy, which won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi in 2011. It was produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films in collaboration with Jio Studios. The actress portrays a surrogate mother in the film. Laxman Utekar is the director of the film.
The first look poster gives us our first official look at Kriti Sanon’s role in the film, a dancer who dreams to be an actress but ends up as a surrogate mother. Kriti Sanon is featured in the photo, along with a baby bump formed with an inverted question mark. Kriti Sanon’s perplexed expression lends a lot of drama to her first appearance. Mimi’s story centres around the concept of surrogacy’s acceptance in India.

Kriti Sanon has already spoken out against Mimi’s plot, claiming that the film takes a “entertaining” approach to surrogacy rather than a “preachy” one: “It’s not serious or preachy.” It’s not like you’re going to see a documentary film about surrogacy.
It’s a highly enjoyable picture with a lot of ups and downs and a lot of hilarity. “There’s a lovely graph of the woman I’m portraying, Mimi, who aspires to be an actor,” she said, according to PTI.
Mimi is based on the Marathi film Mala Aai Vhhaychy from 2010, which starred Samruddhi Porey, Urmila Kanitkar, Sulabha Deshpande, and Stacy Bee. In 2011, the original film was also nominated for a National Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi.
