Kathmandu :  The Madan Aashrit Memorial ‘Nakaaun Saven A Side’ Open Football Tournament is starting today. The tournament is organized by the Nepal Communist Party Unified Socialist and coordinated by the People’s Volunteers and Youth Association Nepal. A total of 60 teams will participate in the tournament. The competition will run until the 8th of Jestha.

According to the information provided by the Youth Association’s permanent committee member Samip Tripathi, all the matches of the tournament will be played at the Launchaur Stadium. As per him, the winning team of the competition will be awarded NPR 3 lakhs, the runner-up will receive NPR 2 lakhs, and the third-placed team will be given a prize of NPR 1 lakh.

The tournament was organized in memory of the former General Secretary of the Nepal Communist Party (UML), Madankumar Bhandari, and the Organizational Department Chief, Jeevaraj Aashrit. They tragically lost their lives in a mysterious helicopter accident in Dasdhunga, Chitwan, on Jestha 3, 2050 (May/June 1993).
