After 18 years of marriage, Dhanush and Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth have called it quits and asked people to respect their privacy
Dhanush and Aishwaryaa: Dhanush, the South Indian superstar, announced his split with Aishwarya Rai on Twitter.
The couple is divorcing after 18 years of marriage. On November 18, 2004, Dhanush married Aishwaryaa, Rajinikanth’s oldest daughter. Linga and Yatra are the couple’s two sons.
His statement read, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well wishers to each other The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting.”
“Today, we stand at a place where our paths separate… Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do Respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this. Om Namashivaaya! Spread love, D,” he wrote further.
Many people expressed their surprise in the comments section after the actor uploaded the post. While some expressed their support for the estranged couple, others went on to recall the happy times they had together. Fans have also shown their support for Rajinikanth, urging him to be strong. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan posted the identical note on Instagram with the comment: “There’s no need for a caption…Only your love and understanding are necessary!”
Dhanush and Aishwarya married in 2004.
Dhanush recently starred alongside Sara Ali Khan in Anand L Rai’s Hindi film ‘Atrangi Re.’ After ‘Raanjhanaa,’ this was the actor’s second collaboration with the director. His performance in ‘Atrangi Re’ received acclaim.
Aishwaryaa, on the other hand, is a filmmaker who has directed films like the Tamil romantic thriller 3 and black comedy Vai Raja Vai.
This is the second high-profile divorce in recent K-town history. D Imman, a music composer, announced his separation from his wife Monicka Richard on social media on December 29. Monicka, a computer engineer, and the composer of ‘Annaatthe’ had married in April 2008.
