Both Denmark and Tunisia now have the same points in their group.

Tunisia was able to hold off Denmark and split the points 0-0 after a very interesting and exciting match at the Education City Stadium in Doha, despite the absence of goals, following the stunning and surprising Saudi Arabia victory over Argentina in the first match of the day.

Tunisia got out to a stronger start than the other team, creating some early opportunities and outlasting all expectations. Because of the pressure the African team put on them, Denmark had some trouble keeping the ball and struggled the entire game.

The VAR contacted the referee in the waning moments of the game to inquire about a potential penalty for Denmark, but the referee chose to stand by his call and not award the potential handball penalty to the Danish side. Denmark’s opening game was disappointing because they were anticipated to win rather handily.

However, today’s results demonstrated that there are always some pleasant shocks at the World Cup. The second half began exactly like the previous one did, and despite the fact that Christian Eriksen and Andreas Cornelius gave Denmark two excellent scoring opportunities, Tunisia remained competitive and played solid defense.

The opening World Cup match between France and Australia will take place later on Wednesday. According to the current group stage standings, Tunisia and Denmark are tied for first place with one point each. On Saturday at 5 a.m. ET, Tunisia will play Australia, and at 11 a.m. ET, France will play Denmark.
