Mumbai:  Renowned Irish actor Ray Stevenson has passed away. The 58-year-old actor had appeared in various Marvel films such as “Thor” and its sequel “Thor: The Dark World.” He portrayed the character of Volstagg in these films.

Stevenson was last seen in the blockbuster period action film “RRR” directed by SS Rajamouli. He was well-received by Indian audiences for his role as Governor Scott Baxton. This film marked his only Indian film in his career.

His real name is George Raymond Stevenson. He was born on May 25, 1964, in Lisbon. He is the second among three brothers. His father was a Royal Air Force pilot. At the age of 8, he moved to England and attended the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He obtained a degree in drama at the age of 29. Stevenson entered the film and television industry in the 1990s.

He acted in series such as “Band of Gold” and “The Theory of Flight” in the TV series “Academy Television Series.” He gained popularity for his role in the series “Rome.” Additionally, he appeared in shows like “Dexter,” “The Walking Dead,” “Black Sails,” and was part of the Star Wars animated show as well. He is currently seen in the Disney Plus Star Wars series “Ahsoka,” which is highly anticipated.

His last film was “The Man from Accidental Hitman.” He recently replaced Kevin Spacey in the film “1942.”
