The latest news from the ongoing 2023 season of the Indian Premier League is that Deepak Chahar, a talented swing bowler for the Chennai Super Kings franchise.
He has suffered yet another injury setback. It has been reported that Chahar picked up a suspected hamstring injury during the first over of the match against the Mumbai Indians on April 8, 2023, and is expected to be sidelined for an extended period.
Chahar had missed the entire 2022 season and a large part of the cricketing calendar due to a back injury that he sustained while rehabilitating from a right quadricep injury that he suffered while representing the Indian cricket team in February 2022. It is unfortunate that he has suffered another setback so early in the current season, and he had to leave the field after bowling only five deliveries in his opening over.
In addition to Chahar’s injury, the Chennai Super Kings are also likely to be without Ben Stokes, their other high-profile recruit, who is expected to miss a week of action due to a toe injury. Stokes sat out the match against the Mumbai Indians and is unlikely to play in the upcoming home match against the Rajasthan Royals on April 12, 2023. However, he could return to the team for the away fixture against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 17, 2023.
