Hugh Jackman’s stunning announcement that he will play Wolverine in Deadpool 3 “one more time” makes good on a running joke in the series.

Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine have always needed to interact. Reynolds and Deadpool, who is now arguably the same person, at least shared that opinion. If you haven’t already seen the viral news, scroll down and awe at Reynolds’ official account’s wonderfully branded tweet announcing Deadpool 3.
Reynolds is finally having the last laugh, six years after Deadpool (2016) outperformed any mainline X-Men film starring Hugh Jackman as Logan.
The Canadian actor, who will be playing Deadpool 3—the first Merc with a Mouth film to be featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe—in the social media clip, lounges on a sofa in a home while appearing evasive about his plans. The moment Jackman casually approaches Reynolds to ascend the stairs, inspiration hits.
We did have one concept, adds Reynolds. Hey Hugh, would you like to play Wolverine again? Ryan? “Yeah, certainly,” replies Jackman, who appears to be chewing on something.

Fans have always wanted to hear that, especially now that Deadpool is a part of the MCU, but it has always seemed like a pipe dream since Jackman put his claws down so definitively in Logan (2017). Reynolds has never been deterred by this, though.
Reynolds has made it his personal goal, his higher calling, nay, his destiny to bring Jackman back at least “one more time” ever since the opening sequence of 2016’s Deadpool, a movie that was produced after they learned Jackman was leaving the part. Here are all the occasions that Wolverine and Deadpool almost ran into each other.
