After storming out of Old Trafford on Thursday night after refusing to come on against Tottenham, Cristiano Ronaldo has now spoken out.

Cristiano Ronaldo left the match in the middle after being substituted

The Portuguese player, Cristiano Ronaldo watched as Manchester United defeated Antonio Conte’s squad 2-0 while sitting on the bench for the match against Tottenham. The performance was undoubtedly the best by the team under Erik ten Hag to date.

Ronaldo was spotted marching along the touchline and into the tunnel with a few minutes left in the game, visibly distraught by his lack of involvement. The Portuguese got up from the floor. It’s thought that celebrations after the game went on despite the focus mostly being on the stubborn Portuguese.

Ronaldo attempted to provide something like his perspective by writing on Instagram and stressing that “respect” was a key factor in his choices.

‘As I’ve always done throughout my career, I aim to live and play with respect toward my colleagues, my rivals, and my coaches,’ the former Real Madrid forward stated in his essay. That remains the same.

I remain the same. Since I’ve been playing elite football for the past 20 years, I’ve remained the same professional and person, and respect has always been a major factor in how I make decisions.

It’s unclear if Ronaldo is alluding to the fact that he felt treated disrespectfully by the team and Ten Hag.

“I started out really early, and the older, more seasoned players’ examples were always very significant to me,” he continued. Thus, in the future, I’ve always made an effort to serve as an example for the kids who developed in all the teams I’ve represented.
