Chitwan : Poultry businessman and Nepali Congress leader Shankar Kandel has been found dead in a critical condition. Kandel was found dead inside his office in Belchowk, Ward No. 3 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City. He was the director of Anmol Feeds. The Chitwan police spokesperson DSP Vijayraj Pandit informed that a suicide note was also found in Kandel’s office. The police have informed that Kandel may have committed suicide.

The police team has cordoned off the incident site and sent the body for post-mortem after conducting an initial investigation. Kandel was the former treasurer of the Nepali Congress Chitwan and was a member of the central committee. Recently, he had sold Anmol Feeds amid the crisis in the poultry sector of Chitwan. Kandel was a well-known figure in the district, having operated dana, hatchery, and poultry farms.

Dr. Tilak Chandra Bhattarai, former president of the Industrial and Commerce Association Chitwan and a poultry expert, has said that Kandel’s death is a major blow to Nepal’s poultry industry.
