China has conducted a second day of naval drills near Taiwan, with both air and naval forces participating in the operation dubbed “Joint Sword”.


Taiwan reported dozens of Chinese jets and nine ships around the island on Sunday. Chinese state media referred to the drills as a “stern warning” to Taipei. The operation began after Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen’s visit to the US last week. Taiwanese officials have accused Beijing of using the visit as an “excuse to conduct military exercises” that threaten regional peace, stability, and security.
