For the time being, the massively successful K-Pop boy band BTS is disbanding.
The well-known South Korean band BTS announced that they are taking a ‘temporary hiatus’ to pursue solo careers, but that they will ‘return someday.’ They revealed the news at their annual FESTA dinner, which commemorates the band’s nine years together, with bandmember RM stating that it was time for them to go their separate ways.
As they discussed taking time off, several of the members broke down in tears. Jungkook, 24, Jin, 29, RM, 27, V, 26, Suga, 29, J-Hope, 28, and Jimin, 26, are the members. ‘I’ve always thought BTS was unique, but the problem with K-pop and the idol system in general is that you don’t get enough time to mature,’ RM said at the event.
‘You have to keep making music and doing something,’ he says. ‘We can’t help but think of our fans no matter what,’ Jimin continued, ‘and we want to be the kind of artists who are remembered by our fans.’ ‘I believe we’re now beginning to consider what kind of artists we want to be remembered as by our fans.’

‘I believe that’s why we’re going through a rough patch right now; we’re trying to figure out who we are, and that’s a long and exhausting process.’ V insisted that this isn’t a breakup, saying that they’ll reunite ‘later when we gather as a group that synergy will be like no other.’
‘I think we should spend some time apart to learn how to be one again,’ J-Hope continued. I hope you don’t think of this as a bad thing, but rather as a good idea. That is how I believe BTS will grow stronger.’
SUGA then added, ‘It’s not like we’re breaking up!’
V sent Weverse a note after the video was shared. ‘For the past ten years, we have never stopped looking up at what lies ahead…This is only the beginning; these are the first steps toward ensuring that we remain together as Bangtan for a long time.’
‘The purple string that binds the ARMY and Bangtan together is strong and will never break,’ he added.
