Kathmandu: Borussia Dortmund defeated Augsburg 3-0 on Monday night in the German Bundesliga. With this victory, Dortmund overtakes Bayern and climbs to the top position.
With one game remaining in the season, Dortmund now holds a two-point lead over Bayern in the race for the title. Sebastian Haller scored two goals and Julian Brandt scored one goal to secure the victory for Dortmund at Augsburg’s stadium.
Haller scored in the 58th and 84th minutes, while Brandt scored during injury time. Prior to that, Augsburg’s Felix Uduokhai received a red card in the 38th minute, reducing them to ten players.
After the win, Dortmund has accumulated 70 points from 33 games, securing the top spot. Bayern, with 68 points from the same number of matches, is in the second position.
In the final game of the season, Dortmund will play at home against Mainz, while Bayern will play away against FC Koln.
If Dortmund wins their final game, they will clinch the Bundesliga title for the first time since 2012.
