Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, two of Bollywood’s brightest stars, have sealed the knot in one of the country’s grandest weddings.

At the low-key celebration, held at the couple’s Mumbai residence, many celebrities were among close relatives and friends. Their names are trending on Twitter, and others are wishing them well on social media. With millions of followers throughout the world, the actors are among the most well-known faces in Bollywood. Kapoor’s mother, Neetu Singh, a well-known Bollywood actress, confirmed the wedding on Wednesday. The event took place at Kapoor’s family home, a mansion in Mumbai’s upscale Bandra neighborhood.
Bhatt wrote on social media, “Today, surrounded by our family and friends, at home… at our favorite area – the balcony where we’ve spent the last five years of our relationship – we got married.”
Brahmastra, Kapoor and Bhatt’s debut collaboration, will hit theaters later this year. Their co-star in the film, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, rushed to Instagram to wish them “all the Love, Luck, and Light as they prepare to go on a very unique trip in the coming days.” Ayan Mukerji, the director of Brahmastra and a close friend of the couple, wished them all the best. In an Instagram post, he said, “Wishing that the best of Energies and all the Blessings, all the Joy and all the Purity, surround them as they approach a magnificent new chapter of life, together forever.” On Twitter, filmmaker Karan Johar also congratulated the pair.

This has heightened the excitement of fans, who have been coming to see the actors, and on Wednesday, tight security was placed outside Kapoor’s apartment. For days leading up to the wedding, social media was buzzing with rumors about who would be in attendance and what the stars would wear.
However, the pair chose to keep the celebration small, spending it with close friends and family, which included some of Bollywood’s biggest stars. On Wednesday, Kapoor’s cousins, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Karisma Kapoor, as well as a few others, attended their mehndi, or henna ceremony.
