Bappi Lahiri, a legendary singer and composer, has passed away. “Singer-composer Bappi Lahiri dies in Mumbai hospital, says doctor,” PTI reported, confirming the reports of his death. He was 69 years old at the time. Several fans took to social media shortly after hearing of Bappi Da’s death to pay tribute to the legendary singer. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit also expressed his shock at the news on Twitter. “I was shocked to learn of the death of rock legend #BappiLahiri ji. It’s hard to believe my next-door neighbor is no longer with us. Your music will live on in our hearts forever “he penned.

In April of last year, the veteran singer was admitted to the hospital after testing positive for coronavirus. Bappi Da, on the other hand, was soon released. “Unfortunately, Mr Bappi Lahiri has tested positive for Covid 19 despite all precautions.” At the Breach Candy Hospital, he is receiving excellent care. “As a precautionary measure, Bappi dada’s family requests that all those who have recently come into contact with him get tested,” read a statement issued by his spokesperson at the time.

Aside from that, reports of Bappi Da losing his voice made headlines in September of last year. The singer, on the other hand, issued a statement calling them “false.” “It’s disheartening to learn that some media outlets are spreading false information about me and my health. I’m doing well thanks to the support of my fans and well-wishers! Bappida,” he said in his statement.

Bappi Lahiri is one of the singers who popularized disco in India. Chalte Chalte, Disco Dancer, Tune Maari Entriyaan, Asalaam-e-Ishqum, and Sharaabi were among his many hit songs. Bappi Da’s most recent Bollywood song, Bhankas, was featured in Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor’s 2020 film Baaghi 3.
