This year’s collaboration is the result of last year’s clash.
Last year, Epic’s decision to add an overtly Among Us-like mode to Fortnite(opens in new tab) caused some friction with Innersloth, the creators of the original Among Us. The studio admitted that the game’s mechanics aren’t groundbreaking and “shouldn’t be gatekept(opens in new tab),” but chastised Epic for heavily promoting Among Us with “themes and terminology,” including the mode’s name: Impostors.
It was more of a simmering heat than actual beef. Innersloth also stated that working on a crossover with Epic would be “really, really cool,” and then the two studios teased an actual collaboration(opens in new tab) a few months later. And now we’ve got it: Unfortunately, there isn’t a new game mode, but there is more stuff to buy.

Anyone who purchases Among Us from the Epic Games Store between now and June 9, 2023—roughly a year from now—will receive the Among Us back bling and emote for Fortnite for free. You can get the gear by purchasing a Stars Pack if you already own Fortnite on the Epic Store.
The specific details:
- Crewmate Back Bling: Red, Blue, Green, Pink, Orange, Black, White, Yellow, Brown, and Purple are among the ten Styles based on Crewmate colors from Among Us. Assemble your team and form a group!
- Distraction Dance Emote: Dance your way out of any situation with our game The Henry Stickmin Collection!
Right now, the only way to get the Among Us back bling and emote in Fortnite: Battle Royale is to buy them from the Epic Store. “This promotion is part of the Epic Mega Sale, and to get the cosmetics, you must make a purchase on the Epic Games Store during the promotional window,” according to the FAQ(opens in new tab).
However, it also states that the items will be available for purchase in the Fortnite shop “at a later date.” It also states that once the items are unlocked, they will be available on your account regardless of platform, though you may need to link your Epic account to your console account to access them.
