Lewis Hamilton said at the end of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix that the race had been “manipulated”
After the Abu dhabi Grand prix race, which finished in controversy due to a late-race safety car period, the Mercedes driver was kind in his statements. However, as opponent Max Verstappen passed him on the final lap, Hamilton exclaimed, “This has been manipulated, man.”
Mercedes has filed a notice of intent to protest the race’s handling. They filed two protests on Sunday night, but both were turned down by race officials. They’re debating whether to challenge the decision to support race director Michael Masi’s handling of the rescheduled event, which looked to be in violation of the governing body’s own rules and standards.

Mercedes has 96 hours to determine whether to appeal after filing a notice of intention to appeal, or until roughly 19:00 UK time on Thursday. Mercedes said they were still assessing their options on Monday.
The crew has not publicly commented on the events in Yas Marina, but they believe they were treated unfairly. This is aimed at the race’s organization, not at Verstappen or Red Bull. Even though it is a necessity for the top three finishers to participate in a formal news conference, Hamilton did not mention the safety car incident in his few subsequent television appearances, and he was not made accessible to the written media.

Mercedes “gave it all this latter half of the season and never gave up,” he remarked. Mercedes has determined that it is best not to make any public statements until the dust from Abu Dhabi grand prix has settled and they have decided how to proceed.
They will take into account the fact that the FIA court of appeal seldom overturns stewards’ judgments.
Other drivers have expressed their dissatisfaction with the way the race was restarted following the late safety-car stoppage. Lando Norris, a McLaren driver, said: “It was clearly designed to be a fight. Of course, it was for the television. It was because of the outcome “Norris remarked.
“It wasn’t up to me to decide whether it was fair or not.”
When the safety car was deployed with five laps to go, Hamilton was leading Verstappen and on his way to clinching a record seventh world championship. Behind the safety car, Verstappen pitted for new tyres, but Hamilton did not, leaving the Briton on old tyres when the race was restarted for a one-lap shootout on the last lap. Verstappen passed Hamilton to clinch his first world title.
