On Friday, AB de Villiers declared his retirement from all forms of cricket (November 19).

AB De Villiers finishes his IPL career with 4491 runs in 156 games for RCB, trailing only Virat Kohli as the team’s most run scorer. De Villiers, who played for Delhi Daredevils before joining RCB, concluded his IPL career with 5162 runs in 184 matches, including a career-best 133* against Mumbai Indians in 2015.

De Villiers, who retired from international cricket in 2018, had hoped to play for South Africa in the 2019 World Cup, but that did not happen. Earlier this year, the experienced batter revealed his wish to participate in the T20 World Cup, which was originally scheduled to take place in India but was changed to the UAE and Oman.

“So be it if there’s no room for me. It will be amazing if I can fit in there if all of those things fall into place “he had stated his worldwide comeback, however, did not take place.

De Villiers has also played T20 cricket with the Barbados Tridents, Brisbane Heat, Lahore Qalandars, Middlesex, Rangpur Riders, South Africans, Titans, and Tshwane Spartans, in addition to his international T20 matches and IPL stints with RCB and Delhi.

RCB will always be a good friend of mine and my family, and they will continue to support this incredible team. I’ll always be an RCBian.”

With 9424 runs in 340 matches, 59 fifties, and four hundreds, he finished his T20 career with a total of 9424 runs. De Villiers’ first-class career lasted 141 games and he scored 10689 runs, while his List A career lasted 263 games and he scored 11123 runs.

“I’ve had a long and profitable career with RCB. Eleven years have flown by, and saying goodbye to the lads is heartbreaking. Of course, it took a long time to come to this choice, but after much thought, I’ve chosen to hang up my boots and spend more time with my family “In a statement, De Villiers added.

“I’d like to express my gratitude to the RCB management, my friend Virat Kohli, players, coaches, support staff, fans, and the entire RCB family for their continued faith and support. With RCB, it’s been a great adventure.
On a personal level, I have so many memories to remember for the rest of my life.
